GRAMMY BASS
This bass was a commission from Ben McKee of Imagine Dragons. It got it's nickname from the situation that it was completed just in time for him to use it during their performances on the Grammies broadcast. I love everything about the aesthetic of this bass. It has a fully chambered body with a carved, arched top. The tailpiece is a design that I refer to as a "faux" tailpiece, as the strings pass through it and are anchored to the back of the body. The bass has a 32" scale length, which helps add to the vintage tone. All of the chrome details add to the vibe, including the Hipshot knobs and lollipop tuner keys. My favorite detail is the cream colored ivoroid binding, which is very subtly visible against the white paint. This is matched with the ivoroid inlay of the tailpiece and cream fingerboard dots on the ebony fingerboard.
