A celebration of a new life combined with a celebration of death, there's some meaning in there somewhere... This bass was commissioned by the bride-to-be as a surprise gift for the groom-to-be on their wedding day. I had been hoping for years that someone would commission a Day of the Dead themed build, so I was immediately on board. Premium materials are used throughout. The top of the body is holly, the back and neck are figured maple, the fingerboard is an exceptionally vibrant piece of rosewood. The inlays are done with a variety of materials to capture the bright colors. Turquoise, jasper, jade, ivoroid, ebony, bloodwood, pearloid, faux tortoise shell, plastic, mother of pearl, and abalone were all utilized. The bass is equipped with a custom Aero Instrument pickup and a handmade preamp to ensure it sounds as good as it looks.
